Coin Challenge Answers - Boots
Are you sure you are ready to check to see if you know which coin contains the feet in laced boots captured
in midstride?
Do you recognize the coin?
The coin minted and released in 2007 commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Little Rock Nine and their brave
entrance into the Central High School in Little Rock.
The obverse of the coin shows the feet of nine people who were escorted and protected by the US Army under
President Dwight D. Eisenhower's executive order 10730 as they entered their new high school.
This coin challenge showed the laced military boots and a small portion of the fatigues tucked into the
boots.
The reverse of the coin shows a front view of Little Rock's Central High School.
In addition to selling the singular proof and uncirculated versions, the US Mint included a proof coin in the
2007 American Legacy Set.
You can learn more about the Little Rock historical site from the National Park Service on their Little Rock Central High School web site.
In our book, Days of Our Coins, the Little Rock Central High
School Desegregation commemorative silver dollar coin is featured on August 19 (reverse) and September
24(obverse).
