Coins - 2007 American Legacy
Collection Proof Coins Set - Certificate of Authenticity and Coin Specifications
With the introduction of the Presidential Dollars, the 2007 American Legacy Collection Proof Coins Set contained
sixteen coins: two commemorative silver dollars, a penny, a nickel, a dime, five quarters, a half dollar, a golden
Sacagawea dollar and four golden Presidential dollars.
The proof coins set's Certificate of Authenticity is folded and held inside a black open-ended envelope attached
to the inner back of the easel. A small thumb curve allows easy access to pull out the certificate.
The front of the Certificate of Authenticity identifies the proof coins set with the title, "2007 United States
Mint American Legacy Collection™."
Inside the folded certificate, the Mint Director's message includes:
2007 United States Mint American Legacy Collection™
Certificate of Authenticity
The United States Mint is pleased to present the 2007 American Legacy Collection. By combining brilliant
proof versions of all United States circulating coinage with proof versions of the two commemorative silver
dollars produced in 2007, this is the most complete annual collection of genuine United States Mint coins.
The undersigned hereby certifies that this proof set of 2007 United States coinage was produced by the
United States Mint. The proof versions of each circulating coin bear the "S" mint mark of the United States
Mint at San Francisco. The proof versions of the Jamestown 400th Anniversary Silver Dollar and the Little Rock
Central High School Desegregation Silver Dollar carry the "P" mint mark of the United States Mint at
Philadelphia. These commemorative coins were struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and
signed by President George W. Bush.
The set includes $1 coins from the inaugural year of the Presidential $1 Coin series. These coins honor the
Presidents in the order they served and feature edge-lettering. The $1 coins for 2007 feature George
Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The 50 State Quarters® Program continues with the
2007 issues honoring Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah.
United States Mint proof coins are produced from carefully selected coin blanks that have been burnished to
a high luster, highly polished, and struck on specially adapted coining presses. Each coin is struck at least
twice to bring forth the smallest detail with remarkable clarity.
Edmund C. Moy, Director, United States Mint
On the second half of the inside of the Certificate of Authenticity, the specifications for the five
