Coins - 1989 Proof Set
Certificate with Coin Specifications
In the 1989 proof set, the US Mint continued the addition of a pale purple card with the details about each of
the five proof coins in the set. The card, sized smaller than the lens, fit inside the proof set box adjacent to
proof coins.
For the card inside the 1989 proof set, the Treasury Department Seal for the US Mint is centered on one side of
the thick, pale purple card stock. The seal includes two concentric circles. The inner circle contains a shield
with a set of scales at the top and a key at the bottom separated by thirteen stars in a chevron pattern. Between
the inner and outer circles are the words "Treasury" at the top and "United States Mint" at the bottom.
The informational side of the purple card provides details about each of the proof coins in the 1989 proof set.
In bold purple ink, the title on the card states: "United States Mint Proof Coin Set" with a smaller printed
subtitle of "Specifications."
