Not sure why, but the Survivor song, Eye of the Tiger, comes to mind when thinking of the current gold marketplace. Remember? Eye of the Tiger was big with the Rocky movies.
For fun, here are the Eye of the Tiger lyrics which provide more insight into why gold is a tiger:
Risin’ up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I’m back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive
So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the cream of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all in the eye of the tiger
Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin’ tough, stayin’ hungry
They stack the odds ’til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive
It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the cream of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all in the eye of the tiger
Risin’ up, straight to the top
Have the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I’m not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive
It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the cream of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all in the eye of the tiger
The eye of the tiger…the eye of the tiger…the eye of the tiger…the eye of the tiger…
Doesn’t it seem that gold fights to stay on top?
Think about it. Since the early 80s, gold goes down, but then it returns “risin’ up to the challenge” of its rival, the marketplace.
With today’s economy and the marketplace woes, perhaps we need Eye of the Tiger as our own theme song.
It could not only remind us of the golden tiger, but it could also be a strong reminder: “Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past you must fight just to keep them alive.”
